Virtual Physiotherapy

In an effort to provide accessible service, I offer virtual Tele-rehabilitation physiotherapy as an option for all appointments. This involves the delivery of physiotherapy services at a distance usually using the internet and a camera on a computer or smartphone, but also includes telephone appointments. Virtually, I am able to provide individualized consultation and assessment, exercise prescription and progression, and education. You will not be able to receive manual or hands-on therapies, but you can still be assessed and begin a rehabilitation program virtually. I have experience working at Western University’s eMPWR Tele-health clinic (electronic Multidisciplinary Pelvic and Women’s Rehabilitation) and we found excellent patient outcome were achieved virtually in a similar time-frame. Tele-health is a great option for convenience (e.g., due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and for people postnatally). Tele-rehabilitation is covered under most insurers, you can confirm with yours!

Pelvic Health Physiotherapy

Pelvic Health Physiotherapy involves the assessment and treatment of pelvic floor dysfunctions in men and women. These dysfunctions can present as pain, weakness, and abdominal muscle dysfunction. To learn more visit my “what is pelvic floor physiotherapy” page. Common reasons for seeking a pelvic health physiotherapist include: bladder and bowel leakage, constipation, painful intercourse, endometriosis and related pain, pelvic organ prolapse, diagnosed pelvic dysfunctions (e.g., vuvlodynia, vestibulodynia, vaginismus and pudendal neuralgia) and pain between the diaphragm and the knee (e.g., hip, low back, and tailbone pain).

Prenatal & Postpartum Physiotherapy

Prenatal and Postpartum Physiotherapy is essential for expecting and postnatal people! This is a branch of Pelvic Health Physiotherapy where we can focus on helping you prepare for birth, recovery from both vaginal and caesarean-section births, diastasis rectus abdominis, painful intercourse, episiotomy, perineal tissue healing, low back and pelvic pain, and planning your return to exercise. In much of Europe, Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy is a standard treatment for pregnant women both before, during and after they give birth.

Orthopaedic Physiotherapy

Orthopaedic Physiotherapy involves assessment and treatment of the nervous and musculoskeletal systems of the human body. Treatment for orthopaedic conditions includes: exercise, relaxation techniques, manual therapies, postural corrections, education and understanding the “why” of your pain or dysfunction. Common reasons for seeing a physiotherapist include: arthritis, and joint pain, muscle pain, strains and tears, low back pain, nerve pain, fractures, ligament sprains and tears, tendinopathies and other persistent pain conditions.

Physiotherapy treatment can include:

  • education about your condition

  • functional exercises

  • muscle co-ordination exercises

  • manual therapy (hands-on mobilization and manipulation)

  • fascial therapies (cupping, scar mobilizations)

  • electrotherapeutic modalities (Emsella, TENS machines)
